Are You Overwhelmed?

Good Evening,

I know that it has been along time since I have last posted.  Needless to say, a lot of changes have occurred in our lives.

We found out that we can no longer rent our home, so we had to move back in.  Our home is now on the market and we are praying that the Lord would allow us to sell it.  Please continue to pray for us as we wait on the Lord's will for our lives.

I am the type of person who likes to know why things happen the way they do, but so often in our christian life the Lord does not tell us why, but requires of us only to be faithful and obedient to the orders he has given us.

I felt impressed from the Lord to post this evening a few verses that deal with being overwhelmed and how the Lord is always there to see us through.  Even when it feels as if everything is going backwards, the Lord is always there and will never leave nor forsake us.

The bible says:

When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.  Psalms 142:3

Overwhelmed- To overspread or crush beneath something violent and weighty, that covers or encompasses the whole; To immerse and bear down; in a figurative sense; as, to be overwhelmed with cares, afflictions or business.

There are times in our lives when we are overwhelmed with all that is going on around us and with in our spirit.  Sometimes it feels as thought the dark clouds will never leave nor the battle ever stop, but one thing we can be sure of is that the Lord knows our path and is there with us every step of the way.

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.  Hebrews 13:5

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.  Deuteronomy 31:6

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10

For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall. Isaiah 25:4

I just want to thank everyone for their prayers and support.  May we all stay faithful to the Lord!

God bless you all!

New Phone Number

Hello all,

I just wanted to let everyone know that we have a new phone number while we are back in the States. It is (843) 259-7786.  We will have this phone number till we can move over to Papua New Guinea.

We are very thankful to all of the brethren who have helped us begin to make this transition from the Dominican Republic to Papua New Guinea.  The support and help has been tremendous and we are very blessed to have such loving and caring brothers and sisters in Christ. May the Lord bless each and everyone of you, we love you all dearly!  Words can not be found for how grateful we are for what you have done.

Our plan is to take it a day at a time and let the Lord open all of the doors.  The Lord has been faithful and has lead us thus far, may we continue to stay faithful to what the he would have us to do.  It is a blessing to be at peace with God and know that we serve the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

I came across this verse this morning:

Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.
Psalm 143:10

May our prayer be to do the will of the Father at all times and may we be happy to serve him wherever he may lead.

Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:
Psalms 146:5

Safe Trip Home

I hope and pray that all is well!  I just wanted to let everyone know that we made it home safely.  Thank the Lord, that we had a safe flight out of Santo Domingo and also a safe drive home from Florida.  The Lord has meet all of our needs and we are grateful for all of the help and support we have recieved.

Please continue to pray that all of our household items will make it back safe to the U.S. in October.  Missionary Flights International will be flying home our items on October 13th and I will have to drive down to Fort Pierce, Florida to pick them up.

I will try to continue to keep everyone updated with all that is going on in the coming weeks.

Thank you again for all of your prayers and support!

Praise to the Lord!

Good Afternoon!  I'm praying that everyone is doing well.  I just wanted to write a quick post thanking everyone for the prayers, especially those who pray for our protection.  Yesterday, we tried to take a trip down into town to buy some propane and food, when we came across a riot in one of the small cities that we have to travel through.  They were burning tires, braking glass, and putting trees in the roadway to impede traffic.  This road is the main road from Port-Au-Prince, Haiti to Barahona, Dominican Republic.  The road then goes on into the Capital of the Dominican Republic.  Thank the Lord that we were able to get turned around and could head back up into the mountain with out any problems.  Sometimes those that are rioting will throw rocks at your vehicle, but nothing like this happened to us yesterday.  We are grateful to the Lord for his protection and guidance.  Thank you again to all who pray for us, your prayers where definitely answered yesterday!

2 Corinthians 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Maybe Another Trip Into Haiti

Good Afternoon to all!  We pray that everyone made it through the storm safely on the east coast.  We are doing well down here.

Please pray for another trip that I may be able to take into Haiti within the next few weeks.  Brother Darren and I are going to try and visit Brother Fred Wall and his wife, up in the northern part of Haiti.  There is also an orphanage, run by two women (Kathy and Alice), that we are also going to try and visit.  I believe that Kathy and Alice have been running this orphanage for over 25 years.  Brother Darren and his family also lived there for a few years, helping out with the daily operations.  Hopefully, if the Lord allows, we can go up there and be a blessing to them for a few days.

Brother Fred Wall and his wife Joyce have been on the mission field for over 30 years.  I am looking forward to making this trip and seeing all that the Lord has done for this brother and his wife.  Please pray for Sister Wall, as she is still recovering from a surgery that she had in the States, back in July.

Thank you again to all who are praying for us as we seek the Lord's guidance and direction.

To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

Hello All...

Good Afternoon to all!  I hope and pray you all are doing well.  We are doing fine down here and are praying for our brethren up north as they prepare for Hurrican Irene.  I just wanted to update you all with what is going on.  We are currently waiting on the Lord to see what he would have us to do next.  Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to wait.  But Gods word says:

Psalms 27:14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

Psalms 37:7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Psalms 62:5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.

So often we want to try and figure out everything, instead of praying and waiting on the Lord to show us.  The Lord would have us to trust him daily and lean not to our own understandings.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Please continue to pray for us as we seek the Lord's guidance and direction.  I'm very thankful to have such loving and caring brethren back home.  Thank you to all who have sent emails of encouragement, are praying, and have sent support.  The Lord is wonderful and gracious, may we serve him today with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength.

We love you all dearly and are grateful for everything!

2 Corinthians 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Back From Haiti

Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
Psalms 55:22

I hope and pray all is well with everyone back home.  Thank the Lord, I returned safely home from Haiti on Monday.  I am very thankful for all of you who prayed for my safety and trip.  The Lord heard your prayers and helped me in many ways.  Below are a few pictures that I took while in Les Cayes, Haiti.

Most of the buildings in Haiti are old and run down.

Here are some Catholic statues.  Most of the people in Cayes come here to pray.
This is one of the few gas stations in Cayes.  The owner of this gas station has a man that walks around the parking lot with a shotgun.  This helps things to run as smooth as possible.  When there are riots they tend to attack the gas stations and stores.  They loot the stores and gas stations then try to burn them down.

Brother Maurice and I looked at this piece of property in the city of Les Cayes.  The owner quoted us a price of $500,000 U.S. dollars.  The property was between 1-2 acres and had a small house on it.  Prices of land and homes are extremely expensive in Haiti at this time.  Another home was going for $250,000 and I would not have paid $40,000.  To put things in perspective, a bag of cement cost around $7.00 dollars in the Dominican Republic, in Haiti the going price is around $70.00 a bag.

Please continue to pray for us as I try to find the Lord's will.  I believe that the Lord has closed the door to go to Les Cayes, Haiti at this time.  So I will continue to pray and wait on the Lord to see where he will lead and direct.

Thank you again for all of your prayers and support!  We love and miss you all dearly!

Some Things to Pray About....

"So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of such as were oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors ther was power; but they had on comforter." Ecclesiastes 4:1

First, I want to say thank you to all who prayed for our safety through this storm.  Thank the Lord that storm did not cause much damage (atleast in the area that we are in).  It is still raining, but nothing like the last day and a half.

Brother Maurice and his family.

Secondly, Would you all please pray for me as I try to take another trip over to visit Bro. Maurice LaPierre next week (Lord willing).  Please pray that the road ways will be passable, especially at the border.  I believe the Lord is leading us to move over into Haiti by December or January.  When I go to visit next week, I will be looking for a home to rent, so please pray that the Lord will lead and direct us to the right one.  Below I have listed some things listed that we need prayer for:

#1.  A home to rent in Les Cayes, Haiti.
#2.  That the Lord would show us the best way to move or stuff from the Dominican Republic to Haiti.
#3.  Whether or not I should sell the truck (duty on a vehicle into Haiti is extremely expensive).
#4.  The possiblilities of an orphanage or kids school in the future.
#5.  The best way to move my family over once we have a place to stay.
#6.  Safety in all that we do and the Lords will to be done in all things.
#7.  That the Lord would continue to help us all learn Kreyol.
#8.  Prayer for Brother Maurice and his family, as he tries to help us with our move into Haiti.

Pastor Maurice's church in Les Cayes.
He built the church on the side of his house

I covet each and everyone of your prayers, as we attempt to move over into Haiti and eventually try to start a work with the orphans.

Thank you again for all that you have done for us. May the Lord bless each and everyone of you!

Rain and Some More Rain

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update.  The storm has stalled for the last couple of hours to our south.  It started to rain around 6:00pm yesterday and has not stopped yet.  We are praying that the storm will now pick up speed and move away from the island.

I believe that I read the storm is 105 miles southeast of Port-Au-Prince.  All of this rain is not good for the condintions of some of these homes down here.  Pray that we will not have any flash flooding or mud slides, especially in the mountains of Haiti.

We have had on electricity for the last 14 hours.  I am praying that they will turn it on at some point during today.  Right now I'm using the inverter for the computer and internet access.

We love you all and are thankful for all of your prayers.

Up The Mountain

I just wanted to put up a quick post of a visit to Los Chirquettos (don't know the spelling of that one) last week.  We were able to take up some food, clothing and some toys to some families in need.  The were very appreciative of all that they received.  I just want to thank all who sent some items for these families.

Some baseball gloves along with some clothing.

Levi was ready to go and hand out some food!

We had to drive up another 4 to 5 miles.  Thank the Lord I had 4 wheel drive or else we never would have made it.  We have received a lot of rain over the last 2 months and the road had been washed out.

Those houses in the back ground is the little village we live in.

One of the familes that received some food and clothes.

We were able to give this little girl a doll.  She was so excited by the gift.
My wife and I going through the box of clothes.

This is their home along with their kitchen.

These men were excited to get some hats.

This woman was extremely happy to get a dress that some one had donated.

That little building in the back ground is the bathroom!

This is the little girl who got the doll.

The woman of this home wanted to give Melanie and I a gift.  She brought out a bag of coffee that she had just grounded.

The little girl with Eliana.

Psalms 136:1 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

1 Thessalonians 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Hope you all have a wonderful evening and may we be always thankful for what the Lord has done for us!

Stay Steadfast!

"But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."
1 Corinthians 15:57-58

Good Morning Brethren,

I hope and pray all is well.  We are doing fine down here.  Alot has been going on the past two weeks.  I have had to travel into the Capital twice this past week.  One of the times, I had to drive all night, and we didn't get back till 10:30 the following morning.  Thank the Lord, everything went well and he allowed us to have a safe journey.

We also have been receiving a lot of rain lately.  I would have to say that it has rained pretty steady for the last month and a half.  The last two weeks we have gotten some pretty bad down pours.  Please pray, as the mosquitoes have been bad.  Also, there have been a lot more cases of Chlorea.  Our trust is in the Lord that he will lead and protect.

Lord willing, I will try to post some more pictures this up coming week.

We love, miss, and are praying for you all!

In Christ our Lord,

Project Thessalonica....

"And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep:  for now is our savation nearer than when we believed.  The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light."  Romans 13:11-12

Good Afternoon Brethren,

I hope and pray all is well back home.  We are continuing to do well down here and are thankful for all that the Lord has done so far.  Some days there are trials and temptations, but the Lord has lead us through them all.  Sometimes you just want to pack it all up and come home, but then you realize that there is no peace nor happiness outside of the Lord's will.  Thank you again to all who pray and have given to support us as we try to do the Lord's will here in the Dominican Republic and Haiti.  The need is great and the battle is real!  May we all stay in the fight till the Lord returns or calls us home!
There is a reason why I wrote "Project Thessalonica" in the subject line.  Below you will find a link to "Project Thessalonica," this is a project being done by The Bible Baptist Church in Deland, FL (Pastor James Knox).  It is amazing how the Lord has already answered some of their prayers for the project.  Please, if you have some time, read what they are trying to do and pray.  Maybe the Lord would lead you to help in some way!  The time is short, what is done for the Lord is the only thing that will last for eternity.

We love and miss you all!

P.S.  Also, please keep in your prayers Kristana.  She is the daughter of Missionary Jon and Larissa Zwingle in Russia.  She is still having some problems with her ears and eyes.  Brother Jon's wife Larissa is also having a lot of problems with her back.  Please pray for them and for the work in Russia.

Hello All...

Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.   Psalms 103:1-5

I hope and pray all is well.  We have been doing well down here.  I aplogize for not having many posts this month, but both of our computers have decided to give us some problems.  I have to send the computer that my home church got me back to the States for repairs.  Our other computer decided to go crazy this morning.  Thank the Lord though, that he has provided a way for us to be able to purchase another computer, which should be here on July 5th.  Until then I will not be able to put any photos of our visit with the Bassano's on the blog.

During the first week of June, we had the Bassano family visit us from our home church.  We had a wonderful time and our thankful to have such wonderful friends!  It was nice to be able to sit down and just laugh and talk with the brethren.  The Bassano family were a true blessing and we are thankful that they had the opportunity to come down and visit.

We also now have our own personal field address through Missionary Flights International (MFI).  It is as follows:

Chris Weltin
3170 Airmans Drive
Unit #4023 KJBBH
Fort Pierce, Florida 34946

Please note that there is a $1.50 charge per pound for any package sent through MFI.  There is no charge for any letters under a pound.  If anyone has any questions feel free to email me at chrisweltin@yahoo.com .

Thank you again for all of your prayers and support.  Again we love and miss you all!

Café Festival in Polo

This past Saturday we were able to go to the local Café Festival here in Polo, Barahona.  Many people come from all over the country to participate in its activities held from June 3-5.   The Bassano family, from our home church, helped us hand out some tracts.  We also had some helpers from the church here in Polo.  Brother Moises and Brother Davey, along with 10-15 children helped in the effort.  I believe that we probably handed out close to 400-500 tracts at this Festival.  Please pray that the Lord will deal with the hearts of those that received tracts.  Below are a few pictures taken at the Festival:

There were probably close to 500 people at the Festival.
